For Steel City Barbers owner Amy Carnell, the interior of her business – specifically the lighting – needed to align with her brand, be comfortable for her clients, as well as allow her to safely do her job. In 2019, her business received an electrical fit out which was completed by another electrician, but it did not meet her lighting needs for the interior and Amy was not happy with the job done.
At the same time, Amy was also renovating her home which required a full electrical fit out as well. And that’s where our team came in to save the day – powered by years of experience and knowledge of the in-depth planning electrical fit outs require.
An electrical fit out refers to the process of careful planning and implementing of your electrical requirements in interior spaces of your business and/or home.
Unfortunately, Amy didn’t feel her previous electrician was listening to her commercial electrical requests, which is when she reached out to Director, Troy Powell and the team to help her with the electrical renovation for both spaces.
Amy’s residential and commercial renovation needed a full electrical fit out, for both her post-war home and her barber business. Operating at two sites meant the team, consisting of Troy, Josh Isaac and Brayden Powell, was all hands-on deck as both Amy’s home and business needed Powellect’s full domestic and commercial service offerings.
This involved:
Powellect is known for their outstanding communication and transparency, and ability to go above and beyond for the client.
Before starting any electrical work, it is good to have a clear idea and checklist of what needs to be installed in a room.
Troy had a consultation with Amy before he and the team commenced work on the business fit out, to understand why the track lighting job done previously was insufficient and how they could fix it.
Through open communication with the Powellect team, the outcome for the interior of Steel City Barbers was to relocate the installed track lighting and install supplementary downlighting.
Another challenge that arose was work for both sites needing to be rescheduled at times, due to the demanding nature of owning and operating a barbershop.
We understand that when running a business, it is crucial that there are limited electrical interruptions – time is money, and that is why you need commercial electricians that you can trust for your electrical work.
The team easily managed these challenges by accommodating work for Amy and her business at suitable times, ensuring solutions were come up with before commencing the job.
Josh and Brayden used their trade skills and professionalism to advise Amy of possibilities, both in terms of financial and practical outcomes of the electrical fit out on her home and business.
Owner of Steel City Barbers, Amy Carnell said that nothing was ever too hard for the team.
“When an urgent issue came up, Troy rescheduled his team so they could be at my house within a 24-hour period, or less…sometimes even 30 minutes later in several desperate occasions,” Amy said.
For Amy, her residential and commercial electrical renovation was powered by experience and that is why the job was successfully completed by Powellect. Amy has been using Powellect’s services for over seven years now and “will continue to do so in the future”.
Amy says that she and Troy have built a solid working relationship and has one final electrical fit-off of the renovation to complete, which of course, Powellect will get “first dibs at.”
